Adrienne Iapalucci: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch

Who is Adrienne Iapalucci?

Adrienne Iapalucci was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, and has been performing stand-up comedy for over twenty years. She is a Comedy Cellar regular known for dark, precise, politically incorrect material that Louis C.K. has described as being among his favorite comedy. Her material has drawn praise from Neal Brennan, Patton Oswalt, Chris Rock, and Anthony Jeselnik.

She was a semifinalist on Season 7 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. She won the first-ever People’s Choice Opening Act Competition at the New York Comedy Festival in 2009, performing for 1,400 people at NYC’s Town Hall Theater. She was a semifinalist in the “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up Contest” and runner-up in the New York Underground Comedy Festival’s “Best of the Boroughs” contest. She debuted at Just for Laughs Montreal as a New Face. She appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman. Her Netflix special The Dark Queen, directed by Louis C.K. and produced by Ari Shaffir, is streaming on Netflix. She appeared on Netflix’s Degenerates Season 2 alongside Ms. Pat, Jim Norton, and Nikki Glaser; one of her jokes from that set was featured in Netflix’s Best of 2020 Stand-Up special. In 2023, she performed a 15-minute set on Louis C.K.’s live-streamed special at Madison Square Garden. She has appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, Your Mom’s House, Are You Garbage, This Week at the Comedy Cellar, and other major podcasts. Her debut album Baby Skeletons (2020) was named one of Interrobang’s Top Eleven Comedy Albums of 2020.

Adrienne Iapalucci’s Comedy Style

Iapalucci writes dark, intelligent material with a deadpan delivery — the Bronx background and the political incorrectness are real, not performed. Her comedy is built on a precise joke architecture where the darkness is part of the craftsmanship rather than a substitute for it. The endorsement from Louis C.K. and the company she keeps on Netflix and at Madison Square Garden reflect a comedian who has earned her place at the top of the club circuit through the quality of the material.
