Ahamed Weinberg: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch
Who is Ahamed Weinberg?
Ahamed Weinberg is originally from Philadelphia and is based in Los Angeles. He is the son of a Jewish father and a Catholic mother, both of whom converted to Islam under the influence of a Sri Lankan Sufi teacher in the Philadelphia community. His father was born a Jew in Brooklyn; Ahamed grew up praying at mosque before school and made a pilgrimage to Mecca at age ten. His first public comedy performance came in the sixth grade at a school talent show, where he opened with: “You think your life is hard? I’m Muslim and Jewish. Try being at holy war with yourself.”
He made his late-night stand-up debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers (NBC) and has also appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He was named a New Face at Just for Laughs Montreal 2016 and listed on Vulture’s 20 Comics to Watch and TimeOut LA’s Comics to Watch. His television credits include The Eric Andre Show (Adult Swim), Insecure (HBO), I Love You, America (Hulu), Comedy Knockout (TruTV), Comedy Bang! Bang! (IFC), and Hacks (HBO Max, 2025) — where he played himself as a stand-up comedian. He wrote, directed, and starred in two seasons of Ahamed’s Ramadan Diaries (Comedy Central Digital / Paramount+). He co-created the Facebook series Please Understand Me, executive produced by Sarah Silverman. He has served as a story editor on Ramy Youssef’s animated series for A24/Amazon. His Don’t Tell Comedy stand-up special accumulated millions of views. His TikTok clips about his Muslim-Jewish identity have individually reached millions of views.
Ahamed Weinberg’s Comedy Style
Weinberg is a calm, precise comedian with an absurdist sensibility and one of the most genuinely distinctive biographical setups in stand-up: the name “Ahamed Weinberg” is both the premise and the punchline, and everything flows from there. His delivery is unhurried, which makes the unexpected turns land harder. The Hacks casting — playing himself doing the exact material he does in real life — is the clearest signal of how his voice has broken through to a mainstream television audience.
