Andy Haynes: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch

Who is Andy Haynes?

Andy Haynes was raised in the Pacific Northwest in the shadow of Mt. Rainier on salmon and caffeine — his own description, and one that captures the specific regional texture he brings to his comedy. He is originally from Seattle and is now based in Los Angeles, where he is a paid regular at the Comedy Store and holds a similar status at the Comedy Cellar in New York.

His stand-up has been featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, The Late Late Show with James Corden, his own Comedy Central Half Hour, Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, and The Pete Holmes Show. He was a New Face at Just for Laughs Montreal. He has been featured in the television series Another Period (Comedy Central), Adam Ruins Everything (TruTV), and Loosely Exactly Nicole with Nicole Byer (MTV). He created and produced the animated series The Champions for Bleacher Report — a satirical take on Champions League soccer set in a faux-reality TV world that accumulated nearly 100 million views across platforms. He was head writer for Hot Takes with Brandon Wardell on Comedy Central and created and starred in After Sheldon with Andy Haynes on JASH. He has been a staff writer on Ground Floor (TBS) and written for Ridiculousness (MTV) since 2012. His debut album Greatest Hits was released in 2014. He has 125,000 Instagram followers and has had viral TikTok clips with over 200,000 likes on individual videos.

Andy Haynes’s Comedy Style

Haynes is a precise, cerebral comedian with a Pacific Northwest sensibility — observational, a little absurdist, and built on a genuine curiosity about the way things work. His writing career and his stand-up career inform each other in visible ways: the joke architecture is tighter than it looks, and the premises are often stranger than they first appear. The Comedy Store and Comedy Cellar both reflect a comedian who performs well in serious rooms.
