Roast Battle Oct. 18th Livestream
Roast Battle League NY streams live on Mint Comedy on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 4pm ET (1pm PT), from the Comedy Cellar's Village Underground in New York City. Five battles, ten comics, and one host, Brian Moses, the guy who invented Roast Battle. Tickets to the stream are $2.99, or $2 with promo code MINTROAST. Monthly and annual Mint members watch free.
The headliner is personal. Last October, Austin's Ray Chenevey beat Dan Wickes, the man who runs RBL NY. Dan has had a full year to think about it. On Sunday he gets his rematch, in his own league, in front of a Comedy Cellar crowd.
Watch live Sunday, Oct. 18 at 4pm ET on Mint Comedy. $2 with code MINTROAST.
What Is Roast Battle?
Roast Battle is stand-up as a combat sport. Two comedians face off and trade prepared insults, one joke at a time, while a panel of judges scores the exchange and the crowd reacts to every hit. It started in 2013 in the parking lot of The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, when Brian Moses and Rell Battle told two arguing comics to settle it on stage. It became Comedy Central's Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle, and now it's a league. Roast Battle League NY (RBL NY) runs regular cards around New York, and its biggest nights happen at the Comedy Cellar.
The Fight Card
Main Event: Dan Wickes (New York) vs. Ray Chenevey (Austin)
On October 1, 2025, Ray Chenevey beat Dan Wickes. Sunday is the rematch. Dan comes in hot with a 7-2 season; Ray comes in having just won at Grove 34 earlier this month. One of them leaves the Cellar even. The other leaves with a new joke about himself that he'll hear in his sleep.
Dan Wickes
Season: 7-2 | Career: 11-5 | Home: New York
Dan Wickes, a.k.a. Master Shake, a.k.a. The Wickster Scale, won the 2021 Coney Island Comedy Festival and has spent the last ten years roast battling, for better or worse. He finished third in RBL Season 3 and has battled at Roastmasters, the original Roast Battle NYC at New York Comedy Club, the Comedy Cellar, Comedy Mothership, SXSW, and both the Belly Room and the Main Room at The Comedy Store. He also runs the RBL NY show, so he usually spends his nights in the judge's chair scaring other battlers. Sunday he's back in the ring, with a score to settle.
Ray Chenevey
Season: 2-1 | Career: 5-2 | Home: Austin
Ray Chenevey is the Austin battler who handed Dan Wickes a loss last fall, so he knows exactly what he's walking into. He's battled in The Comedy Store's Belly Room, at Comedy Mothership, and on RBL's Austin vs. New Orleans Supercard, where he took a win for Texas. He's also judged for RBL in Dallas. He comes into Sunday fresh off a win at Grove 34 on October 7, and he's the only person on this card who already knows how to beat the man who runs the league.
The Undercard
Esther (London) vs. Chris Crespo (New York)
Esther
Season: 0-1 | Career: 4-2
Esther is a two-time Roast Battle Champion, an LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year finalist, and the Best Newcomer winner at the Barcelona Comedy Awards. She's opened for Michelle Wolf and has battled at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Comedy Cellar, and Comedy Mothership. She started out in Barcelona, went 17-2 there, got bored of winning, and joined RBL for Season 4. Her season record says 0-1. Her career says don't get comfortable.
Chris Crespo
Season: 3-4 | Career: 6-7
Chris Crespo is a New Jersey-born, New York-based comic who can fire off five shots in a roast battle but, according to his own league bio, can't give a proper high five. He's the author of the self-published horror novel Boy Meets Corpse, he was one of the original roasters at Roastmasters at The Stand (where he went toe to toe with Eli Sairs), and he's battled at Comedy Mothership, The Stand, Grove 34, and the Comedy Cellar.
John Ajodah (New York) vs. Justin Brown (New York)
@johnajodah
@justinbrowncomedy
John Ajodah
Season: 3-3 | Career: 7-3
John Ajodah describes himself as a philosopher, model, and warrior poet who wanders the nation looking for the one opponent worthy of defeating him, so his eternal spirit can finally rest. So far the spirit is restless: he beat Chris Crespo last month, and he's a top-10 battler in RBL's lifetime point standings. He's also judged RBL cards, so he knows exactly what the panel wants to hear.
Justin Brown
Season: 5-6 | Career: 7-8
Justin Brown is one of the busiest battlers in New York, with 15 battles on his RBL record since last October, and he's peaking at the right time: he won his last two at Grove 34, over Ike Rafferty in September and Charity Gregory two weeks ago. He's walking into the Cellar on a streak.
Talent Harris (New York) vs. Irina Chelidze (New York)
Talent Harris
Season: 2-1 | Career: 2-1
Talent Harris is a New York comic who came out swinging this season, with back-to-back August wins at Grove 34, including one over Greg Giraldo Jr. He's 2-1, so is his opponent, and somebody's getting a losing record they'll have to explain at Thanksgiving.
Irina Chelidze
Season: 2-1 | Career: 5-2
Irina Chelidze was born in the country of Georgia and raised in Brooklyn, which is where she learned most of the cuss words she still uses. She speaks four languages and loves to cook, sing, and hunt lantern flies. She's engaged to roast comic Joshua Lampley, and she can usually be found arguing with waitstaff on his behalf. Earlier this year she beat John Ajodah, who's also on this card, so she's already got a scalp in the building.
Dave Sheehan (Hartford) vs. Noah Guerrero (Bay Area)
@shroudofsilence
@noahhguerrero
Dave Sheehan
Season: 7-5 | Career: 8-9
Dave Sheehan has been roast battling since 2017 at places like New York Comedy Club, the Comedy Cellar, and Comedy Mothership. He's tall, bald, and gangly, and by his own league bio he's been compared to older follically challenged celebrities and various supernatural entities. Don't let the silhouette fool you: Dave is a writer's roaster who'd rather lose with an original joke than win with a garden-variety insult. Seven wins this season says he's been doing both.
Noah Guerrero
Season: 8-4 | Career: 7-4
Noah Guerrero, the Black Prince of the Bay Area, was the Bay's 2025 Rookie of the Year and has battled around the country, including The Comedy Store, Punchline Sacramento, and Comedy Mothership. He's 8-4 this season and coming for number nine.
