Who is Ashley Austin Morris?

Ashley Austin Morris (born Ashley Sue Morris) was born in San Antonio, Texas. After high school she joined the comedy troupe “Viva La Vulva!” before enrolling at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she wrote the play Libido Limbo — a finalist at Atlanta’s Young Playwrights Festival. She moved to New York City after graduating and built parallel careers in stand-up comedy, stage acting, television, and film.

She is best known for her role as Francine Carruthers in the PBS Kids revival of The Electric Company (2009–2011) and for her recurring role as Roxanne Hertz opposite Jesse Eisenberg and Claire Danes in FX’s Fleishman Is in Trouble. She plays Nicole in Shonda Rhimes’ Netflix series Inventing Anna. Her other television credits include The Other Two (HBO), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), Tommy (CBS), Murphy Brown (CBS revival), The Good Wife, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Divorce (HBO), and The Deuce (HBO). Her film credits include Clint Eastwood’s Sully, Columbia Pictures’ Premium Rush, and Generation Um. She voiced characters in the video game Red Dead Redemption. Her debut comedy album Slightly Off debuted at number one on the iTunes comedy charts and has been in rotation on Sirius XM Radio. Her stand-up has been featured on AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live. She performs regularly at New York Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, and the Comedy Cellar.
