Dan LaMorte: An Ultra-Runner Turned Stand-Up With a Just for Laughs Nod
Who is Dan LaMorte?
Dan LaMorte’s path to comedy is unconventional and compelling. He started performing stand-up at age 19 after a college baseball injury ended his athletic aspirations. For years, his life was shaped by weight and health challenges—by age 23, he weighed 354 pounds and was diagnosed with fatty liver disease. Rather than giving up, LaMorte transformed himself. He lost over 185 pounds and became an ultra-runner, competing in races longer than marathon distance.
Beyond his personal journey, LaMorte is a fixture of the New York City comedy scene. He regularly performs at the Comedy Cellar and The Stand comedy clubs. In 2023, he was chosen as one of the prestigious New Faces at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal—a recognition of his growth as a comedian. In 2024, he released a popular short special with Don’t Tell Comedy on YouTube.
Dan LaMorte’s Stand-Up Work
His television and media appearances include Fox’s Red Eye, AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, and the podcast Getting Doug with High. He released two albums, Not Enough Pieces and Infect Me Once, both popular on SiriusXM, with over a million combined streams on Pandora. These credits show his range and appeal across different platforms.
Dan LaMorte’s Comedy Style
LaMorte’s comedy draws from his real life—his experiences on the autism spectrum, his physical transformation, his ultra-running adventures. This authenticity gives his material genuine weight and makes audiences feel like they’re hearing from someone with something real to say.
