Dustin Ybarra: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch
Who is Dustin Ybarra?
Dustin Ybarra was born on July 19, 1986, in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in New Braunfels, Austin, and Daingerfield before graduating from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. He began his comedy career with stand-up performances in Texas, where he was a finalist in both the Funniest Dallas Comic and Funniest Comic in Texas competitions. He relocated to Los Angeles and built a parallel career as a working actor while continuing to perform stand-up.
He is best known for his recurring role as Tyler Medina in ABC’s Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. His other television credits include recurring roles on Californication (Showtime), Gotham (FOX), The Goldbergs (ABC), Home Economics (ABC), and Ghosts (CBS). His film credits include We Bought a Zoo (2011), Hop (2011), 21 & Over (2013), Ted 2 (2015), Jordan Peele’s Us (2019), and Easter Sunday (2022). He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He released the YouTube comedy special That Will Not Do. He is based in Los Angeles and performs regularly at the Comedy Cellar when in New York.
Dustin Ybarra’s Comedy Style
Ybarra is a comedian and actor who moves fluidly between both disciplines — his television credits span network dramas, comedies, and major studio films, while his stand-up is observational and rooted in his Texas background and working-class experience. The dual career is genuine rather than one subsidizing the other: he is consistently working in both rooms.
