Fabrizio Copano: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch

Who is Fabrizio Copano?

Fabrizio Copano was born on March 6, 1989, in Santiago, Chile. He started his comedy career twenty years ago in Chile at a time when there was essentially no stand-up comedy scene in the country — he and his friends had to build it from the ground up, inspired by American comedians including Eddie Murphy and Lewis Black. He began in coffee shops and grew to become one of the most famous comedians in Latin America.

He was the first South American comedian to shoot an original comedy special for Netflix. He co-wrote and starred in the Chilean film Barrio Universitario (2013) and wrote, directed, and starred in Prueba de Actitud (Attitude Test, 2016), which remains one of Chile’s highest-grossing comedies of all time. He was an actor and writer on the hit Chilean comedy show El Club de la Comedia, hosted the late-night show El Late de Copano, and hosted La Culpa es de Colón for Comedy Central Latin America — a comedy supergroup featuring the top five comedians from five Latin American countries. He released two Spanish-language Netflix specials. He was selected for the Just for Laughs 2022 New Faces cohort, made his American late-night debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and was part of CBS’s 2025 Comics to Watch Showcase. He is developing a television series with Trevor Noah’s Day Zero Productions. His first English-language special From the Future, released through 800 Pound Gorilla in July 2025, covers identity, fatherhood, and the immigrant experience — and was taped just before he became a U.S. citizen, a decision prompted by a joke about the President that made him reconsider his residency status. He is a Comedy Cellar paid regular and lives in New York City with his wife and children.

Fabrizio Copano’s Comedy Style

Copano performs in both Spanish and English and navigates the gap between cultures with a precision that comes from having genuinely lived in both. His material is sharp, fast, and built around the specific absurdity of the immigrant experience — the cultural whiplash, millennial parenting, and the particular strangeness of claiming a new identity while holding on to an old one. His career trajectory from building a comedy scene from scratch in Chile to performing at the Comedy Cellar is one of the more remarkable in contemporary stand-up.
