Liz Glazer: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch

Who is Liz Glazer?

Liz Glazer is a comedian, actor, and writer who used to be a tenured law professor — a fact that is both the most important thing to know about her and the engine of most of her best material. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in four years, then attended the University of Chicago Law School, where she served on the Law Review. She practiced transactional real estate law at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in New York, then earned tenure at Hofstra Law School, with visiting positions at Northwestern and Loyola Chicago. Her legal scholarship was published in the Georgetown Law Journal, the Harvard Journal of Law & Gender, and the Northwestern University Law Review, among others. She quit to do stand-up comedy, making those credentials, in her words, props.

She won first place at both the Boston Comedy Festival and the Ladies of Laughter Competition. She was featured in a full-length profile in the Wall Street Journal. She was accepted to the 2021 HBO Women in Comedy Festival. She has appeared on television in For Life on ABC and BULL on CBS. She performed stand-up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with the set included in the New York Times “Best of Late Night.” She has sets with Don’t Tell Comedy and Nate Bargatze’s The Showcase. Her first full-length comedy special Do You Know Who I’m Not? was released on YouTube in June 2025, filmed at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. In January 2026 she performed in Israel as part of the annual Comedy for Koby tour. She is married to a female rabbi, is the granddaughter of four Holocaust survivors (her description: “a perfect score”), and became a mother in 2023.

Liz Glazer’s Comedy Style

Glazer’s comedy is longform storytelling with hard punchlines — her own description, and accurate. The law professor background is not a gimmick but a genuine structural influence: she builds arguments, she knows how to anticipate an audience’s objections, and she closes her material with the discipline of someone who spent years writing legal scholarship. The Jewishness, the lesbianism, the rabbi wife, the Holocaust grandparents, and the law school career are all present in the material simultaneously, and the comedy comes from how those identities interact rather than from any one of them alone.
