Mia Jackson: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch
Who is Mia Jackson?
Mia Jackson is originally from Columbus, Georgia, graduated from the University of Georgia, and started her stand-up career in Atlanta. She is now based in New York City. In 2017 she was selected as a New Face at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, the same year that Atlanta’s Creative Loafing named her the Critic’s Choice Best Stand-Up in the city.
She has two half-hour stand-up specials — one on MGM+ (Unprotected Sets, 2018) and one on Comedy Central (November 2019). Her stand-up has been featured on Comedy Central’s This Week at the Comedy Cellar. She was a semi-finalist on Season 9 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. She appeared on Inside Amy Schumer. She toured nationally with Amy Schumer as part of the Amy & Friends tour in 2022. She voiced the narrator for VH1’s My Celebrity Dream Wedding. She wrote for Hulu’s Life & Beth and BET+’s I Love Us. She appeared in the film Mother’s Day. She has opened for Dave Chappelle. She performs regularly at the Comedy Cellar and across the New York club circuit and the country.
Mia Jackson’s Comedy Style
Jackson’s comedy is smart, warm, and rooted in her Georgia background — the accent is real and present in her delivery, which creates an intimacy that lets the material land without resistance. Her writing credits on Life & Beth and I Love Us reflect a comedic sensibility that translates across formats. The combination of two half-hour specials, national touring with Amy Schumer, and Cellar regularity indicates a comedian with a full complement of tools and consistent working relationships in the industry.
