Sean Donnelly: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch
Who is Sean Donnelly?
Sean Donnelly grew up on Long Island, right on the border of Queens and Nassau County, and moved to New York City in 2006. He was a New Face at Just for Laughs Montreal in 2013. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and NBC’s Last Comic Standing.
He appeared on Comedy Central’s The Half Hour and Adam Devine’s House Party. His television credits include Comedy Central’s @midnight, Inside Amy Schumer, and Broad City; TruTV’s World’s Dumbest, Comedy KO, and Almost Genius; CBS’s Limitless and The Equalizer; and Amazon’s Alpha House. He released his debut comedy album Manual Labor Face in 2015 on Comedy Central Records. He currently co-hosts the Burbs Bros podcast. He previously co-hosted My Dumb Friends with fellow comedian Dan St. Germain on the All Things Comedy network. He performs regularly at the Comedy Cellar and across the country.
Sean Donnelly’s Comedy Style
Donnelly is a Long Island comedian in the truest sense — his material is grounded in working-class New York roots, delivered with the directness and self-deprecating honesty that comes from that background. The “Manual Labor Face” album title is both the joke and the explanation: he looks exactly like he should be doing something more physical and instead tells jokes about it. His late-night television appearances demonstrate that the material lands for mainstream audiences; the Cellar sets are where it gets refined.
