Simeon Goodson: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch
Who is Simeon Goodson?
Simeon Goodson is a native of Brooklyn, New York, who has been performing stand-up comedy since 2004. He is known to colleagues and audiences as “Sim.” He built his career in New York City clubs before embarking on an unusual international trajectory that took his comedy to some of the most unexpected stages in the world.
His career credits include performing at Caroline’s on Broadway, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and touring the United States with the “Comedy’s Best Kept Secret Tour.” He opened for Hannibal Buress on the Comedy Camisado Tour. In August 2015, he relocated with his family to the United Arab Emirates, where he won the Dubai Comedy Festival’s Beat the Gong competition and filmed for Comedy Central Arabia’s Stand Up Al Wagif Seasons 2 and 3. In 2018 he moved to Wuxi, China, continuing to perform across Chinese cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, and Wuhan. He has also performed at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Returning to New York City in 2021, he appeared on That Damn Michael Che Season 2 (HBOMax). He is now a regular host and performer at the Comedy Cellar, where he performs weekly. In July 2025 he recorded his live comedy album Already an Adult in Brooklyn.
Simeon Goodson’s Comedy Style
Goodson describes his comedic style as “a verbal manifestation of his inner conflict” — clever writing and unconventional delivery that balances the impulse to be an upstanding citizen with the desire to be disruptive. Twenty years performing in New York, the Middle East, and China have built a comedian with an unusually global perspective and the stage control that comes from having performed everywhere from dive bars to skyscrapers.
