Usama Siddiquee: Bio, Comedy Style, and Where to Watch

Who is Usama Siddiquee?

Usama Siddiquee is a Bengali-American stand-up comedian and actor based in New York, born to Bangladeshi parents in Canada. His path to comedy is unconventional: he was once on track to become a doctor and enter medical school—a path deeply valued in his family and culture. Instead, Usama made the courageous choice to pursue his true calling: making people laugh.

His breakthrough came in 2020 when he competed on the 15th season of America’s Got Talent, where he advanced to the semi-finals. In 2018, he was named a New Face at Just For Laughs, one of the comedy world’s most prestigious festivals. Shortly after, he was passed at the world-famous Comedy Cellar in New York, cementing his status as a rising voice in stand-up comedy.

His late-night debut came on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where his sharp, culturally-informed comedy found its place. In March 2025, he released his debut 1/2 hour special on YouTube, produced by Don’t Tell Comedy, giving audiences access to his full creative vision.

On the acting side, Usama has appeared in major streaming projects: Netflix’s Inventing Anna and Survival of The Thickest, HBO’s And Just Like That, Comedy Central’s Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, and FX’s Better Things.

Usama Siddiquee’s Comedy Style

Usama’s comedy draws deeply from his identity as a Bengali-American navigating multiple cultures and expectations. His material explores the gap between what his family wanted for him and what he chose for himself—a universally relatable tension that he explores with specificity and heart. He brings both intellectual sharpness and emotional warmth to his stand-up, making jokes about identity, medicine, family, and the absurdities of American life.

What distinguishes Usama is his ability to make his deeply personal story feel like yours. His comedy feels urgent and immediate, speaking to the experience of second-generation immigrants and anyone who’s ever felt pulled between different versions of who they’re supposed to be.

What Fans and Fellow Comedians Say

Usama has earned recognition as a fresh voice in comedy, selected as a New Face at Just For Laughs and passed at the Comedy Cellar—two indicators of respect from comedy’s establishment. His appearance on The Late Show and his successful YouTube special release have expanded his audience while maintaining his credibility among hard-core comedy fans.
